Miller's Variety Shoppe -  July 2007 Merchant of the Month

Miller's Variety Shoppe is owned and operated by Rhonda and June Miller and has been serving customers in Hamilton and surrounding communities for several years. The Hamilton Location at 1740 Keokuk Street is located right next door to Duck's Red Fox. They are available 4 days a week, Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Other times to see the store can be made available by appointment. Feel free to stop on in if you see them while passing by or call June at 309-333-4066.

Miller's Variety Shoppe has also had shops located in the Colchester area. In previous years, the store had been located in Hamilton, but their building was sold creating the need to relocate. The store now in Hamilton was opened in 2005.

When you stop into Miller's Variety Shoppe to browse around you will find many antiques, collectibles, dolls, glassware, knick knacks, and used furniture. They also buy good used furniture. When you stop by set aside some time as they really have a lot of great things to see! There is a great variety of inventory and the store is full of lots of neat items. June expressed, "At this time there are no plans for expansion."

I asked June how many employees help out the store besides Rhonda and herself. She replied, "Oh we have a couple of good friends that help us out from time-to-time which we really appreciate."

When June is not at the store, you will find her going to a yard sale, flea market, auction, or spending time with her family and 14 grandchildren.

Rhonda also enjoys yard sales, flea markets, and auctions. She has recently returned to teaching at Dayton's School of Hair Design in Keokuk, Iowa. Rhonda enjoys spending free time with her family and grandson, Hunter.

Finishing up June's interview, I asked her, "What do you enjoy most about working here in Hamilton?" June replied, "Although I presently live in Colchester, I've enjoyed having the business in Hamilton. I have had a chance to meet a lot of nice people and the community has been good to us. My husband, Harry, is planning to retire soon, so you never know - we may decide to relocate here!"
