Pearl Kennedy Day
On July 29, 2010 Pearl Mildred Swartz Kennedy, long time resident and retired teacher of Hamilton, Illinois celebrated her 103rd Birthday.
She taught in several rural schools in Iowa and then she and her family moved to Hamilton in March 1944. She then taught in several rural schools including 3rd Grade in Warsaw, IL and ending up teaching 3rd Grade at Hamilton elementary school. In total she taught 31 years, and she still remembers a lot of the children she taught, many of them saying she was their "FAVORITE" teacher.
She moved into the Montebello Healthcare Center on March 1, 2003. She has spent the last 7 1/2 years there and shares many memories with their staff.
An Open House Celebration was held at Montebello Healthcare Center where Mayor Woodruff presented her with a Proclamation declaring July 29, 2010 Pearl Mildred Swartz Kennedy Day.
